A Word of Warning

I’m going to be analysing feminism and the Femosphere, and I’m going to step on some toes with my sensible shoes, so before I start I want to acknowledge that I’m not going to be right all the time, and that I want a real discussion, not a knock-down-drag-out argument that goes nowhere. Please remember that most people commenting her are those who genuinely care about women and women’s rights.

  1. I’m with you, constructive critizism in my bag 🙂

  2. It will be interesting to read what you have to say.

One of the things I’ve found fantastic about reading feminist blogs is getting different perspectives and understandings. I’m a white, middle class, middle aged, straight, cisgendered, able bodied, married, well educated mother of three. And most of my friends fall into these categories too, with variations. So it can be very hard to find alternative views and understandings. The feminist blogs I read give me a chance to hear from a black woman with disabilities on the other side of the world, a lesbian mother, a teenaged lesbian, a housewife in Sydney, and so on. That’s astounding, and so valuable. I’ve been actively reading feminist blogs for about three years now, ‘though I’ve identified as feminist for a long, long time, since I was in my early teens. But the feminist blogs have pushed my thinking along a huge way in the last few years.
